Hero...unforgotten favorite

This song gave me goose bumps from the very first time I heard it on the radio  in the early 90's. Given that I married a hero-minded guy with an undeservedly bad rep, it meant a lot to me. I found it coming to mind  again lately as I thought over our life together. Once again we have hope that matters will be set right...and I still believe in my hero.

Its hard to believe such a thoughtful song isn't more famous. One day I'll find the cd that has it. I wonder if it even had its own music video. No one seems to have one for it online. Curious

[Edit: the replacement I found seems to be the original promo music video. yay!]

It was one of those great stories that you can't put down at night
The hero knew what he had to do and he wasn't afraid to fight
The villain goes to jail while the hero goes free
I wish it were that simple for me

And the reason that she loved him
Was the reason I loved him too
And he never wondered what was right or wrong
He just knew, he just knew

Shadow and shade mix together at dawn
But by the time you catch them simplicity's gone
So we sort through the pieces my friends and I
Searching through the darkness to find the breaks in the sky
...
